Description of the program
Le Fashion Lab’s Grading program teaches students how to grade their own patterns (that is, increase or decrease the size of a base sloper). This skill equips students with the knowledge to (i) adjust pattern sizes without having to draft them from scratch for individual clients and/or (ii) to complete an entire size run (e.g. XS, S, ML, L, etc.) for their collection.
Description of the class
Using pre-existing pattern slopers, students learn the ins and outs of proper grading techniques for knits and wovens. Class includes grading of various knit and woven slopers (including tee; leggings; bodice; skirt; dress with collar and sleeves; and pants) also including grading of a student’s unique design.
Who can take this program?
Students who have successfully completed Le Fashion Lab’s Fashion Design & Garment Construction program, whether 1-yr or 2-yr track, are invited to take this program.
Otherwise, to be accepted, a prospect must show proof of completion of a fashion/garment construction program from another institution, including being subject to a sewing, draping, and patternmaking skills assessment.
