What our student says
"When I found what the fashion lab offered I said:
that's it, that is what I really want - one intensive year
that I can dedicate myself to knowing the fashion
industry; to knowing the development of collec-
tions and how the creative process works.
You really are doing a complete Bachelor's Degree;
but you're doing it in one year.
It was a really beautiful experience. It was tough of
course, sometimes it was so frustrating; but at the
end when you see the result you feel proud of your-
I made five pieces of clothing in one month, I never
in my life imagined that I could do that."
"l absolutely love this school . They are very hands-on and will teach you everything you need to know about designing , sketching , business , and entrepreneurship. The teachers and owner are the
best!! I went to school here to focus on starting sleepwear company and I launched last month!!" (November 2017)
"Before I started taking classes at Le Fashion Lab, I
had no experience in fashion design whatsoever.
Fashion design had always interested me so I
decided to sign up for some beginner courses. My
goal was to find an enjoyable creative outlet and
also find out if it was something I had a passion for.
I have taken sewing, pattern making, draping,
adobe illustrator, fashion design and sketching, and
illustration classes.
Some of the things I've learned are: How to sew
dresses,
shirts, skirts, and jackets; how to
understand and draft my own patterns; I've also
learned the process of designing a collection.
Thanks to the schooling I've received from Le
Fashion Lab I've discovered that fashion design is
something I was to pursue as a career. I've also
learned the process of designing a collection. I've
been able to build a portfolio with the work I've
done in my classes and, because of that, I've been
accepted to SCAD as a fashion design major."
"l always wanted to study fashion design and I
never thought that I could do it without living in NY.
I was scared that I wasn't going to accomplish my
dreams. I was looking for a school that could work
with my work schedule, a school that was
affordable, a school that was local and I was
intrigued when I saw Nicola's story. My final
collection was probably my biggest achievement. I
didn't think that things that I drew would ever come
to life."
"I'd done some sewing when I was younger and
really enjoyed it. But I had frustrations because
things wouldn't turn out the way I wanted.
I took some private classes with a lady who lived
close to me. But she ended up getting busy so we
couldn't continue with that.
The decision-making process was a big obstacle.
What do I really want? Do I really want a degree or
learn fashion in a lot less time? I had to figure out
what my desires were. After I did, I realized I wanted
to learn fashion in a lot less time. I didn't want to
take 4 years to do it. The program at Le Fashion Lab
looked like what I wanted to learn, exactly.
My biggest dream coming into the program was to
be able to take measurements and make a well-fit-
ting garment, especially if it was something I de-
signed; going through the whole process of design-
ing and making a garment that fits well and is
professionally finished.
I'm very happy with the skills I learned at Le Fashion
Lab. I learned many amazing things."
